Bath and North East Somerset has the beautiful Georgian city of Bath that has been designated as a World Heritage site as well as some outstanding countryside. It offers great boutique shopping, fantastic entertainment, fabulous festivals and a remarkable range of licensed premises but you'll find the local authority landscape is different here, too. We are keen to innovate, so we will actively encourage your fresh ideas and enthusiasm.
Working as part of our highly experienced Licensing team, you will be involved in a wide range of work; dealing with street trading applications and premises licence applications through to attendance at Committee; investigating complaints to a successful resolution, which will sometimes require working weekends and evenings; working collaboratively with our stakeholders to bring about improvements in street trading, licensed premises and processes; participating in new ways of working to improve our customer experience.
You should have a critical knowledge of licensing legislation and will have a vocational qualification or experience to level 3 which is relevant to the service user group.
You will have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people, including members of the public and Council Members. You must be able to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative in a discreet and confidential manner. You will have experience of writing reports and be able to demonstrate effective prioritisation skills to meet deadlines.
A current driving licence and access to your own transport during working hours is essential. From time to time, there will be a requirement for you to work evenings or weekends.
